What does it support?
BIF can support business strategy, internationally recognised sustainability standards or certification, automation, product development, technology innovation and adoption, and the development or improvement of tourism products, services and solutions.
Who can apply?
The fund is open to Singapore-registered tourism businesses undertaking core capability development and Singapore-registered technology companies creating innovative products or services for tourism businesses. Hotels and hostels should hold the applicable Hotels Licensing Board licence.
How does the support work?
STB states that funding support differs for SMEs and non-SMEs and is assessed project by project. The public programme page does not state one universal headline rate or monetary cap, so this page does not infer one.
What expenditure can qualify?
Qualifying third-party costs can include consultancy and certification fees, hardware or equipment and software, materials and consumables, training that is intrinsic to the project, and project-related travel.
Key conditions
The project must not have commenced before application. STB treats work started, payments made or contractual agreements signed before application as project commencement. Approved support is reimbursement-based and depends on qualifying costs and achievement of agreed deliverables and milestones.
Timing and application process
BIF is currently listed as an available Tourism Development Fund scheme without a fixed public closing date. Companies should engage STB before project commencement and allow for the agency's eligibility review and formal application process.
Prepare a concise executive summary covering project objectives, scope, schedule, costs and expected outcomes. STB first assesses eligibility and then invites the company to proceed with the formal application where appropriate.
Is this scheme relevant to your project?
A strong fit is a Singapore tourism business making a material productivity, technology, capability or sustainability improvement with measurable commercial outcomes. A weak fit is routine operating expenditure or a project already started before application.
How Reeve | R&D supports the scheme
Reeve | R&D can manage the incentive workstream - eligibility assessment, project structuring, funding or tax-benefit modelling, application preparation, agency interaction and post-award requirements - while the company remains the formal applicant where required by the programme.
