MINT-RPD
Applied R&D, product development, test-bedding
Project-specific co-funding; no universal public rate stated
MINT-STARTUP
POC, POV and pilots by eligible accelerator graduates
Up to S$100,000
What does it support?
MINT-RPD supports applied maritime R&D, new or improved product and solution development, test-bedding and the creation of maritime technology, IP and local technical capability.
MINT-STARTUP supports POC, POV and pilot projects by qualifying maritime technology startups that have completed PIER71 Accelerate or another relevant programme from an MPA accelerator partner.
Who can apply?
For MINT-RPD, the applicant should be incorporated and operating in Singapore with paid-up capital of at least 50% of total project costs, or be an eligible recognised classification society. Core R&D and technology development must be carried out in Singapore.
For MINT-STARTUP, the startup must have completed an eligible accelerator programme, be less than 10 years old, be incorporated in Singapore, meet the stated group-size test, maintain paid-up capital of at least 30% of the grant amount, and conduct funded technology development in Singapore.
How does the support work?
The generic MINT-RPD page states that qualifying manpower, equipment and operating expenditure can be co-funded but does not publish one universal percentage or project cap.
MINT-STARTUP offers up to S$100,000 for eligible POC, POV or pilot projects under the current generic MINT programme page.
What expenditure can qualify?
MINT-RPD can support qualifying manpower, equipment and other operating expenditure incurred for the approved technology project. MINT-STARTUP supports approved technology-development, POC, POV and pilot costs under the grant terms.
Key conditions
Projects must be technology-oriented, relevant to the maritime industry and have commercialisation potential. Under MINT-RPD, project activity and related cost should start only after MPA approval, and core development must occur in Singapore. MINT-STARTUP eligibility is gated by completion of an eligible MPA-linked accelerator programme.
Timing and application process
Both current MINT schemes are presented as available routes without a single public closing date. Companies should align engagement with MPA before project commencement and, for MINT-STARTUP, with the relevant accelerator pathway.
Select the correct MINT route, define the maritime problem and technical innovation, document Singapore development activity and commercialisation potential, structure the workplan and costs, and engage MPA before incurring supported project expenditure.
Is this scheme relevant to your project?
A strong MINT-RPD fit is a Singapore maritime company or technology developer undertaking substantive applied R&D with deployment potential. A strong MINT-STARTUP fit is an eligible accelerator graduate ready for a maritime POC, POV or pilot. Routine software adoption or a non-maritime technology project is a weak fit.
How Reeve | R&D supports the scheme
Reeve | R&D can manage the incentive workstream - eligibility assessment, project structuring, funding or tax-benefit modelling, application preparation, agency interaction and post-award requirements - while the company remains the formal applicant where required by the programme.
