What does the Institution Project track support?

The track is intended for projects that develop and deploy innovative financial-sector technology, rather than routine software implementation.

The current frontier-technology focus covers:

  • Artificial Intelligence;
  • Distributed Ledger Technology and tokenisation; and
  • Quantum Technology.

The project should have a clear financial-services use case and involve substantive technology development or deployment in Singapore.

Who can apply?

The current track is aimed at Singapore-based financial institutions and FinTech firms undertaking eligible frontier-technology projects.

No local-shareholding requirement is stated for this track.

The central eligibility question is therefore whether the applicant and project clearly fall within the financial-sector and frontier-technology scope rather than whether the company has Singaporean ownership.

How much support is available?

MAS states support of up to 50% for Institution Projects.

No fixed public per-project dollar cap is currently stated. The eventual support therefore depends on the approved project scope, qualifying expenditure and MAS assessment rather than a published flat maximum.

What expenditure can qualify?

Support relates to project costs associated with eligible solution development and deployment.

Detailed public cost categories are not currently stated for this track, so companies should confirm the eligible-cost treatment against MAS guidance when structuring the project budget rather than assume that every technology expense will qualify.

Key conditions

The project should:

  • be undertaken by a Singapore-based financial institution or FinTech firm;
  • fall within the stated AI, DLT/tokenisation or quantum focus;
  • involve genuine development and/or deployment of an innovative solution; and
  • satisfy the track-specific cost and assessment requirements set by MAS.

This track should not be confused with AI Pathfinder. AI Pathfinder is an adoption route for an existing PathFin.ai-listed solution, while Institution Project is the more relevant route where the company is developing or deploying a frontier-technology solution as part of the project itself.

Is the Institution Project track relevant to your project?

A strong fit is a financial institution or FinTech company undertaking substantive AI, tokenisation/DLT or quantum development with a clear Singapore financial-sector use case.

A weaker fit is ordinary enterprise software adoption, a generic digitalisation project, or an AI implementation using an existing market-tested solution that belongs under AI Pathfinder instead.

How Reeve | R&D supports FSTI Institution Projects

Reeve | R&D can manage the incentive workstream—eligibility assessment, project structuring, funding modelling, application preparation, agency interaction and post-award requirements—while the company remains the formal applicant where required by the programme.

For Institution Projects, the key work is positioning the technology development, financial-sector impact, project scope and cost base clearly against the MAS track.

Frequently asked questions

How much can the Institution Project track fund?

Up to 50% of qualifying project costs, subject to MAS assessment.

Is there a public grant cap?

No fixed public per-project dollar cap is currently stated for the track.

Does it require local ownership?

No local ownership requirement is stated for the track.

Is this the right route for adopting an existing AI solution?

Not usually. If the solution is market-tested and listed on PathFin.ai, the AI Pathfinder track is the more relevant route.
